Phillip Island

About two hours south-east, and the schedule is set by the penguins rather than by you: the parade starts at sunset, so summer bookings run late and winter ones finish early. The drive home is dark and the roads carry real wildlife risk. Most bookings leave Melbourne mid-afternoon and take in the Nobbies before the parade.
